Edge ov The Twilight Queen's Domain: Worldbuilding Log #3/Campaign Log 0
With every passing day, I can feel myself becoming more and more feral
A few new additions to The Still Unnamed OD&D World for your reading pleasure :3
I have decided upon 3 main factions/forces that will begin mobilizing and moving towards The Bay Area, The Edge Ov The Twilight Queen's Domain.
Gortsy will be coming from inland, past the Death Mountain Range. Somehow, Queen Sacha has either learned of the many dungeon/ruins in The Bay and seeks the treasure/Dwemer Tech within. Or, she has learned of the small Nichibotsu Envoy settling on one of the islands near the City-State of Madurai and wishes to make her claim on the Unincorporated Bay Area first...
That's the 2 factions above land, I shall be keeping the 3rd secret until later on in this post... ;3
Back to the 2 Rival Superpowers, i've decided to expand upon Gortsy a bit. :3
Campaign Log 0
Somehow, there are Elves there! And by extension, Half-Elves. I cut Dwarves out, to defy a trend I have with No Elves in my D&D whenever I work on OD&D material. And no Halflings! Because I don't care about them currently, and I wanted to go for a certain vibe with this world. A world where Tolkien's influence in D&D is lessened apart from some iconic monsters like the Barlog. (Haha, name the retroclone ;3)
I very much want a focus on the war, territory disputes and politics going on in the world at large happening in the background for the Campaign. This will all be happening during the early level Dungeon Crawling, so mostly outside of the Player's Sandbox apart from some local gossip before the dungeon :3
Eventually though, maybe around when the PC's are Mid Level 2, the starting town shall be conquered! Top contenders are the Krepost Bey-Khart (Thieves Fortress of Badabaskor) headed by Queen Sacha's 2nd Oldest Son, The City-State of Madurai who would most certainly be looking to majorly expand their territory once allied with The Twilight Queen, or perhaps the more exciting option...
The Deep Dwarves and Orcs from the Underdark will have arrived at the Death Mountain Range's Dwemer Highway Tunnels, inhabiting the ruins and beginning to expand/fix up their new Headquarters :33
Inspired by my Experiences working Construction these past 2 years, and brought to the front while working on Blue Collar D&D; Transferrable Skills, Knowledge, Lessons and Analogies.
Coming Soon To Theaters
There will be an Orc Union (Not my idea, i'll have to add the credit later when I scour the Discord Server for the convo). They will have arrived at Rogghelve (Stonehell in this world lol) sometime a century ago, sent back a small group to give word of prospects by the surface, who have now returned with as many Underdark Dwellers as would partake in such a Migration.
The Deep Dwarves! I have no fweakin clue what they're gonna be like in this setting, but I do know they are not going to be like PC Dwarves at all. Maybe they're an evolutionary branch of the Dwarves :3
I think i'm going to have a nice little dichotomy between the Ancient Dwemer Machinery/Tech and the more Modern Inspired Deep Dwarf Shit.
Deep Dwarf and Orc encounters I believe shall then be Construction Crews, Maintenance, Janitors. I think as a small little joke and gonzo in the D&D they'll be like 21st century humans in many aspects. Firstly, they'll be utilizing heavy machinery while renovating the tunnels and dungeons. Modern equipment like Gas Powered Generators, Cables, Lights, Power Tools. As such, renovated Dungeon/Tunnel sections will feature Epoxy Flooring (My Trade!!!!! x33) on top of many other things like modern bathrooms.
Some Dungeons shall then slowly over time become things like Hospitals, Schools/Colleges, Apartment Complexes etc.
